Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy
Respecting other people's rights
Riders own the photos, videos and words they post on Throttle, and other creators own theirs. Under our Terms of Service, you may only post content that you created yourself or that you have permission to use. That includes photos taken by event photographers, magazine articles, music in videos, manufacturers' brochures and other riders' photos.
Using a brand's name to describe a genuine product (for example "Triumph Tiger 900 for sale") is fine. Using someone's logo or trade mark in a way that suggests you are them, or that they endorse you, isn't. Counterfeit goods are never allowed (see our Marketplace Rules).
Reporting infringement
If you own the rights to something (or are authorised to act for the owner) and believe it's being used on Throttle without permission, send a notice to [email protected]. Please include:
- your name, address, phone number and email address;
- a description of the work you believe has been infringed, such as a photo, video or trade mark, with a link to the original if it's online;
- the address (URL) of each post, listing, profile or other page on Throttle that contains the content;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorised by the owner, their agent or the law;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them;
- your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).
We may share your notice, including your name, with the person who posted the content so they can respond. We won't share your other contact details unless you agree. Riders can also report content for other reasons from its ⋯ menu.
What happens next
We'll review your notice promptly. If it's complete and the content appears to infringe, we'll remove it or block access to it and let the person who posted it know. If we need more information, we'll ask. If we decide not to act, we'll explain why.
Please don't send a notice unless you genuinely believe content infringes your rights. Making false claims can harm other riders and may make you legally liable.
If your content was removed
If your content was removed after a copyright or trade mark notice and you believe that was a mistake (for example because you own it, have permission to use it, or the law allows your use), you can ask us to restore it. Contact [email protected] with:
- your name, username and contact details;
- the content that was removed and where it appeared;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that it was removed by mistake, and why;
- your consent to us sharing your response with the person who sent the notice.
We'll pass your response to the person who complained. If they don't tell us within 14 days that they've started legal action, we may restore the content.
Repeat infringement
We'll suspend or close the accounts of riders who repeatedly post content that infringes other people's rights.
